About Janakirama Vruddhashraya
Janakirama Vruddhashraya is a registered non-profit organization (Reg. No.. DRUK/SOR/132/2018-2019, Registrar of Societies, Karwar), based in Kumta, Karnataka. The organization was founded by Smt. Asha Vasant Naik is a seasoned nurse and deeply committed social worker with over 28 years of healthcare and community service experience.
Known for her door-to-door nursing services and tireless social outreach, Smt. Asha Naik has received accolades from several institutions and philanthropists. For years, she dreamed of building a senior care home, and with the support of friends, like-minded volunteers, and well-wishers, that dream became a reality in the form of Janakirama Vruddhashraya.
A Home of Compassion and Care
Old age is not a curse. Yet, for those battling multiple illnesses, life often becomes a silent struggle—not out of fear of death, but fear of how to live with dignity and comfort until the end. Many elderly individuals are completely dependent on their families for everyday tasks, including basic hygiene and mobility. This helplessness can lead to confusion, emotional pain, and a sense of worthlessness.
Our society is changing rapidly. The influence of western lifestyles, growing preference for nuclear families, increasing dependency on technology, and a fast-paced, mechanical way of life have all contributed to the neglect of our elderly. Even in affluent families, caring for bedridden or disabled elders has become increasingly difficult due to time constraints and lack of proper support systems. It’s not easy to manage senior citizens or patients at home, especially those who are immobile or affected by sudden illness or accidents.
Our Vision: One Roof for the Forgotten
To respond to this growing challenge, Janakirama Vruddhashraya was founded with a noble vision—to provide care, dignity, and love to elderly individuals who can no longer care for themselves. Our aim is to offer peace of mind not just to the elders, but also to their children and grandchildren who are struggling to cope with caregiving responsibilities.
We specialize in taking care of bedridden senior citizens who cannot walk or manage their daily activities, including those who are fully dependent for nature calls and personal hygiene.
Our Extended Services
🧒 Orphan Care
In addition to elder care, we also offer shelter to orphaned and abandoned individuals. We have dedicated 5 reserved beds at Janakirama Vruddhashraya to support such underprivileged children and youths.
🐄 Sai Shreedhar Gomandir – Cow Rehabilitation Centre
Understanding that compassion extends beyond humans, we also care for injured, abandoned, and stray cows. Our unit, Sai Shreedhar Gomandir, is a rehabilitation center where these animals receive medical treatment, food, and love.
Once recovered, cows are returned to their rightful owners if identified. Otherwise, they are given lifelong care at our shelter. Today, more than 15 cows live safely under our protection.

ಜಾನಕಿರಾಮಾ ವೃದ್ಧಾಶ್ರಯ
ಮುತ್ತು ಅವರಿಸಿ ಹಲವು ರೋಗಗಳಿಂದ ಬಳಲುತ್ತಿರುವವರಿಗೆ ಸಾವಿನ ಅಂಜಿಕೆ ಇರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಸಾಯುವವರೆಗೂ ಬದುಕುವುದು ಹೇಗೆ ಎಂಬ ಭಯ ಮಾತ್ರ ಅವರನ್ನು ಕ್ಷಣ ಕ್ಷಣಕ್ಕೂ ಕಾಡದೇ ಬಿಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ದೈನಂದಿನ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದು ಕೆಲಸಕ್ಕೂ ಮನೆಯವರನ್ನೇ ಅವಲಂಬಿಸಬೇಕಾದ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹಿರಿಯ ಜೀವಿಗಳ ಬದುಕು ತುಂಬಾ ಆತಂತ್ರವಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ, ಪಾಶ್ಚಾತ್ಯ ಜೀವನ ಶೈಲಿಗಳು, ಆಧುನಿಕತೆ, ಕುಟುಂಬ ವಿಘಟನೆ, ಯಾಂತ್ರೀಕೃತ ಜೀವನ ಮತ್ತು ಅತಿಯಾದ ಸಮಾಜಿಕ ಜಾಲತಾಣದ ಅವಲಂಬನೆ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ವರ್ಗದ ಜನರನ್ನು ಅಕ್ರಮಿಸಿ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಅನಾರೋಗ್ಯ ಪೀಡಿತ ಹಿರಿಯ ಜೀವಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಆರೈಕೆ ಮಾಡುವುದು ಜಟಿಲ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಯಾಗಿದೆ. ಆರ್ಥಿಕವಾಗಿ ಸಬಲರಾಗಿರುವ ಮನೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಕೂಡ ಮುಪ್ಪಡಗಿದವರ ಜೀವನ ದುಸ್ಥಿರವಾಗಿದೆ. ವಯೋಸಹಜ ಹಾಗೂ ಇನ್ನಿತರ ಅಪಘಾತಗಳಿಂದ ಹಾಸಿಗೆ ಹಿಡಿದ ರೋಗಿಗಳನ್ನು ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲೇ ಉಪಚರಿಸುವುದು ಅಸಾಧ್ಯವಾದಂತಹ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇಂತಹ ಮನೆಯ ನಿಸ್ಸಹಾಯಕ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಮತ್ತು ಮೊಮ್ಮಕ್ಕಳ ನೆರವಿಗಾಗಿ ವಯೋವೃದ್ಧರು ಮತ್ತು ಓಡಾಡಲು ಆಗದೆ ದೈನಂದಿನ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಕ್ರಿಯೆಗಳನ್ನು ಹಾಸಿಗೆಯಲ್ಲೇ ಮಾಡಬೇಕಾದ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವವರನ್ನು ಒಂದೇ ಸೂರಿನಡಿ ಕರೆತೆಂದು ಆರೈಕೆ ಮಾಡಬೇಕೆಂಬ ಮೂಲ ಉದ್ದೇಶದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಹುಟ್ಟಿಕೊಂಡ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯೇ “ಜಾನಕಿರಾಮಾ ವೃದ್ಧಾಶ್ರಯ”.
ಈ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಹೇಳುವುದಾದರೆ ಇದು ಮಾನ್ಯ ಜಿಲ್ಲಾ ಉಪನೋಂದಣಾಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳ ಕಛೇರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನೊಂದಾಯಿತವಾಗಿದ್ದು second : DRUK/SOR/132/2018-2019 ” ಆಶಾ ನಾಯ್ಕ” ಇವರು ಕುಮಟಾ ತಾಲೂಕಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಚಿರಪರಿಚಿತರು 28 ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಕಾಲ ಖಾಸಗಿ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಶುಕ್ರೂಷಕಿಯಾಗಿ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಿದ ಅನುಭವವನ್ನು ಆಸಹಾಯಕರ ಸೇವೆಗೆ ಹೇಗೆ ಬಳಕೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬಹುದು ಎನ್ನುವುದನ್ನು ಕಂಡುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಇವರು ಕಳೆದ 3 ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದ ಕುಮಟಾ ಸುತ್ತಲಿನ ವಯೋವೃದ್ದರು ಮತ್ತು ಹಾಸಿಗೆ ಹಿಡಿದ ರೋಗಿಗಳನ್ನು ಅವರವರ ಮನೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಪ್ರೀತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಕಾಳಜಿಯಿಂದ ಸೇವೆಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ತಮ್ಮ ಸೇವೆಗೆ ಹಲವು ಸಭೆ ಸಮಾರಂಭಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸನ್ಮಾನ ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಹಾಗೆ ಸನ್ಮಾನ ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸಿದಾಗಲೆಲ್ಲ “ಒಂದು ಪುಟ್ಟ ವೃದ್ಧಾಶ್ರಯ ನನ್ನ ಕನಸು” ಎಂಬ ಅನಿಸಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ತೋಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಹೀಗೆ ಹಲವು ಆತ್ಮೀಯರ ಹಾರೈಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ನಿರ್ದೇಶನದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಮಾನ ಮನಸ್ಕರೊಡಗೂಡಿ ಸ್ಥಾಪಿತವಾದ ಅವರ ಕನಸಿನ ಕೂಸೆ ಈ “ಜಾನಕಿರಾಮಾ ವೃದ್ಧಾಶ್ರಯ”.
ಇತ್ತೀಚೆಗೆ ಅಂದರೆ ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದ ಅನಾಥರಿಗೂ ಆಶ್ರಯ ನೀಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದು ಆದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ತಮ್ಮ “ಜಾನಕಿರಾಮ ವೃದ್ಧಾಶ್ರಯ”ದಲ್ಲಿ 5 ಹಾಸಿಗೆಯನ್ನು ಅನಾಥರಿಗೆ ಮೀಸಲಿಟ್ಟು ಆ ಮೂಲಕ ಅನಾಥರ ಬದುಕನ್ನು ಬೆಳಗಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಈಗ “ಸಾಯಿ ಶ್ರೀಧರ ಗೋಮಂದಿರ” (Unit of Janakirama Vraddhashraya) ಎಂಬ ಗೋಶಾಲೆಯನ್ನು ತೆರೆದು ಅಪಘಾತಕ್ಕೀಡಾದ ಗೋವುಗಳನ್ನು ತಂದು ಉಪಚರಿಸಿ ರಕ್ಷಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಹಾಗೂ ಉಪಚರಿಸಿದ ಗೋವುಗಳ ಮಾಲೀಕರು ಬಂದು ಕೇಳಿದಾಗ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಹಿಂತಿರುಗಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಈಗ 30 ಕ್ಕೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಗೋವುಗಳು ಆಶ್ರಯ ಪಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದು, ಯಾವ ದನಕರುಗಳ ಮಾಲೀಕರು ಬರಲಿಲ್ಲವೋ ಅಂತಹ ದನಕರುಗಳು “ಸಾಯಿ ಶ್ರೀಧರ ಗೋಮಂದಿರ” ಎಂಬ ತಾಖೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಆಶ್ರಯ ಪಡೆಯುತ್ತಿವೆ. ಆದರೆ ಅವರ ಗೋಶಾಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಗೋವುಗಳೆಲ್ಲವೂ ಅಪಘಾತಕ್ಕೀಡಾಗಿ ಇವರು ಉಪಚರಿಸಿ ರಕ್ಷಿಸಿದ್ದು ಎನ್ನುವುದೇ ವಿಶೇಷ.
ಈ ವೃದ್ಧಾಶ್ರಯ ಹಾಗೂ ಗೋಮಂದಿರದ ಮೂಲಭೂತ ಸೌಕಯ್ಯಗಳಿಗಾಗಿ ಉದಾತ್ತ ಧೈಯಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ತಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಮುಡುಪಾಗಿಸಿರುವ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗೂ ಶಾಖೆಗೂ ಬೆಂಬಲ ಬಯಸುವವರು ದೇಣಿಗೆ ಕೊಡುವುದಾದರೆ ಅಗತ್ಯ ವಸ್ತುಗಳ ರೂಪದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಚೆಕ್ ಅಥವಾ ಡಿಡಿ ರೂಪದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ‘ಜಾನಕಿರಾಮಾ ವೃದ್ಧಾಶ್ರಯ ಕುಮಟಾ” ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಕಳುಹಿಸಬಹುದು ಮತ್ತು ನಮ್ಮ ಬ್ಯಾಂಕ್ ಖಾತೆಗೂ ನೇರವಾಗಿ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಬಹುದು.
